MyTakeoff Open the Tool

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

The short version

Your drawings, measurements and calibration data are processed entirely on your own device, inside your browser. They are never uploaded to, stored on, or transmitted to any MyTakeoff server. We simply never see them.

What data is processed, and where

When you upload a drawing, MyTakeoff reads the file directly in your browser to display it and let you measure against it. That file, along with your scale calibration, your measurements, and your item library, is:

  • Held in your browser's memory while you use the tool
  • Saved to your browser's local storage (IndexedDB and localStorage) so you can resume a session after an accidental refresh, and so your personal item library persists between visits
  • Never sent to a MyTakeoff server, and never seen by us

This local data stays on your device. Clearing your browser's site data for mytakeoff.co.uk, or using a different browser or device, will remove it — it is not backed up anywhere by us. Using the "Save Session" export creates a file on your own device that you choose where to store.

Accounts and paid plans

An account is optional and only needed to export results (CSV or a marked-up image) or sync your item library across devices. Signing in uses a passwordless "magic link" — you enter your email and we send a one-time sign-in link, so there's no password to set, remember, or have leaked.

If you create an account, we store:

  • Your email address, used only for signing in and essential account or billing communication
  • Your plan and subscription status, and the identifiers Stripe uses to bill you — never your card details, which go directly to Stripe and are never seen or held by us
  • Your personal item library (item names, measurement types and colours) — the same data described above, mirrored to our database so it's available across your devices

Your drawings, measurements and scale calibrations are never included in this — that data stays exactly as described above, local to your browser, even when signed in.

Bug reports

If you use the "Report a bug" feature, we store the message you write, your email if you choose to provide one, the page you were on, and basic browser information, to help us diagnose and fix the issue. This is entirely optional and doesn't require an account.

Analytics and cookies

MyTakeoff uses Google Analytics (GA4) to understand traffic in aggregate - which pages are visited, roughly how, and how often - not to identify you individually. This sets cookies, so you're asked to accept or decline before anything loads; declining means no analytics cookies are set at all, and the rest of the site works exactly the same either way. You can change your choice at any time by clearing your browser's site data for mytakeoff.co.uk, which resets the prompt.

Third-party services

The takeoff tool loads PDF.js, an open-source library, from a public CDN (cdnjs.cloudflare.com) to render uploaded PDF files. This is a static code library, not a service your drawing is sent to — the CDN serves the PDF-reading code itself, and your actual drawing file never leaves your browser.

If you create an account or make a purchase, a small number of processors handle that on our behalf:

  • Supabase — hosts our account database and handles sign-in
  • Stripe — processes all payments; we never receive or store your card details
  • Amazon Web Services (SES) — sends transactional emails (sign-in links, bug-report notifications)

None of these services ever receive your drawings, measurements, or scale calibration data.

Your rights

Your drawings and measurements are never stored on our servers, so there's nothing for us to delete on that front — clearing your browser's site data removes them entirely and immediately, under your own control. If you have an account, you can request deletion of your account data (email, plan and billing records, item library) at any time — see Contact below — and we'll delete what we hold within a reasonable time, except where we're required to retain billing records for tax or accounting purposes.

Changes to this policy

This policy will be updated as new features (accounts, exports, sync) are introduced. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated "last updated" date.
